This week the USA South Athletic Conference announced the awards for the 2017 softball season. Along with the All-Conference awards, each team nominates one player to receive the Sportsmanship Award for their team.
Dana Cromer is the recipient for Mary Baldwin University this season. Cromer earned a spot in the starting lineup and has made a positive impact in her first season.
“Dana brought so much positive energy to the team each day,” explained Head Coach Christy Shelton. “Her attitude never changed since day one. Whether it was her having to cheer from the bench to earning a starting spot, she always put the best interests of the team first and did it with so much energy and enthusiasm. She would be the first to congratulate a teammate on something they did. She treated everyone the way she wanted people to treat her. She played hard, the way the game should be played. She respected the decisions made and never complained. She is a positive influence and leads by example.”
