STAUNTON, VA- Mary Baldwin men's soccer picked up a 3-0 win on Sunday afternoon against the visiting Lynchburg Hornets. In its inaugural season, the Fighting Squirrels are now 5-4 in non-conference play and the win was their second in a row.
Immediately after halftime, the Fighting Squirrels scored the first goal of the day in the 50th minute via the exploits of forward Ousmane Dansoko. The MBU men followed with quick goals by Nathan Langford and Lyelson Tavares in the 54th and 60th minutes.
"I'm really pleased with the effort the team put in today. We came out strong and despite some early misses, managed to keep pressing throughout the day. In the end we came away winning a game we really expected to win," said head coach, Bob Rose. "The team is maturing nicely, and fighting through the early mistakes and coming out on top really illustrates that. The ability to push through mistakes, to not let them deflate you and to win the winnable games is a sign we're headed in the right direction. I am really proud of the effort the team put out there today."
The Fighting Squirrels next match will be at home against Old Dominion University Club team on October 14th at 3:00 PM.
