LYNCHBURG, Va. – Several members of the Mary Baldwin University women's and men's track & field teams competed at the Liberty University Twilight Qualifier at the Matthes-Hopkins Track Complex on Wednesday.
On the women's side, Alice Wardy reset her own school record in the 400 meter run with a time of 59.58 and recorded a top-10 finish in a field consisting of runners from all levels of the NCAA.
Mary Moran placed her name in the record books, as well, on Wednesday as she set the MBU record in the discus with a toss of 34.38 meters.
On the men's side, Gregory Woodard, who was recently voted as the MBU Male Newcomer of the Year, set a school record in javelin as he posted a throw of 30.85 meters. Woodard also ran the 200m in 22.30, which is just shy of the school record. His time was good for 15th overall in a field of 45 runners that ranged across all divisions of the NCAA.
Members of the Fighting Squirrels track & field program have one more shot at improving marks to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships as they travel to the VCU Ram Invitational in nearby Richmond, on Sunday, May 12.
