RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Mary Baldwin University women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 contest at William Peace in USA South action on Sunday afternoon.
WIth the result, the Fighting Squirrels drop to 0-8 on the season, while the Pacers improve to 1-4 overall.
In doubles play, Brenda Korlison and Esperanza Cadena grabbed their first win as a team this season after defeating Lauren Lane and Stephanie Arnold 8-4 at the second position. Despite the Pacers taking a 2-1 lead after doubles action, the No. 1 tandem of Julia Kelly and Lucie Oechslin and the No. 3 pairing of Olivia Anderson and Alexis Gonzalez each battled to 8-6 decisions.
Korlison picked up her second win of the day as she captured a 6-2, 6-7, 10-6 win at the third slot. Kelly and Gonzalez also each battled to three sets in losses on Sunday.
Mary Baldwin returns to action Wednesday, April 3, as it travels to face Greensboro for a match at 1 pm.
