MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Mary Baldwin University women's volleyball team traveled to Pfeiffer University on Saturday afternoon to compete in a USA South Tri-Match.
In the first match of the day the Fighting Squirrels took on Pfeiffer and lost 3-0, (25-14, 25-20, 29-27). The second match of the day MBU took on N.C. Wesleyan and dropped the match 3-0, (25-17, 25-17, 25-21).
The Fighting Squirrels finish the season 1-32 and 0-16 in the USA South.
In the first match against the Falcons, Mary Baldwin was led by Deborah Black who tallied 14 kills and five digs, while Emma Tomlinson led the team in assists with 23 and also added five digs. Madison Cash collected 14 digs and Rachel Christian added 10 kills, nine digs, and two service aces.
For the Falcons, they were led by Alonna Clouse who marked 15 kills and 10 digs. Emma Gray Beachum tallied a game-high 33 assists to go along with 10 digs. Kaitlyn Kilts led the team defensively, collecting 18 digs.
In the second match of the afternoon against the Battling Bishops, MBU was led by Christian who added 13 kills and nine digs. Tomlinson tallied 21 assists and 10 digs, while defensively, Cash added 14 digs. Brittany Sharon contributed with 13 digs, two service aces, and two kills.
For the Battling Bishops, they were led by Lauren Weaver who tallied 10 kills. Haileigh Riesenbeck collected 12 assists and five digs, while Sam Butensky collected 13 digs.
