Raleigh, NC - The MBC volleyball team traveled to North Carolina to play a USA South Tri-match on the campus of Meredith College.  Facing Meredith in the first match, the Fighting Squirrels fell 25-16, 25-14, 25-15.  Defensively, Senior Candace Pettway and Freshman LaToya Diggs led the team in digs with 10 each.  Junior Paige Babb led the team in assists with 17 while Freshman Karla Bethea and Sophomore Tiffany Flesher contributed 6 kills each.

 Mary Baldwin faced Averett University in the second match.  Averett University easily won the match in three sets finishing with 45 kills while the Fighting Squirrels could only manage 13 kills.  Senior Candace Pettway contributed 10 digs.  Freshman Meagan Barron and Karla Bethea each had 3 kills.  MBC drops their record to 2-17 (1-9 USA South.)  They will have time to regroup before taking on Christopher Newport University on October 11 at Newport News, VA.
