Box Score 2 Raleigh, NC - The volleyball team travelled to Peace
College today to play their final two conference matches of the
season. The Fighting Squirrels lost both matches 0-3.
The first match against Peace was an extremely close match with
MBC losing 25-18, 29-27, 25-23. Freshman Karla Bethea led the
Fighting Squirrels with 10 kills while Freshman LaToya Diggs added
6. Junior Paige Babb had 20 assists while Senior Candace
Pettway contributed 18 digs.
The second match of the day proved to be very different as the
Methodist Monarchs appeared to dominate the first two games winning
25-15 and 25-12. The third game proved to be more difficult
as the Fighting Squirrels went on a solid run early in the set
coming back from 2-5 to lead 11-6 before Methodist went on a run of
their own to lead 16-13. After trading points, Methodist was
able to get several kills and seal the win with a service ace.
Freshman LaToya Diggs and Sophomore Tiffany Flesher each had
6 kills while Junior Paige Babb finished with 19 assists.
Again Senior Candace Pettway added 18 digs.
The Fighting Squirrels finish the season 3-25, (2-16 USAS).
They will play in the first round of the tournament Tuesday,
November 1 at Christopher Newport University against Greensboro
