Raleigh, NC - Balanced scoring gave Mary Baldwin a 77-70 win over Meredith College Saturday afternoon in Raleigh, NC.  

The Fighting Squirrels built a 10-point lead with seven minutes left in the first half but the Avenging Angels chipped away at the lead to go into the locker room down by only 4.

In the final 20 minutes, Meredith took the lead at the 18:10 mark and built it to five in the following minutes.  The Fighting Squirrels (4-6, 2-5 USAS)  fought back and tied the game again on a jump shot by sophomore Tiffany Flesher.  At the four minute mark, MBC held a slight two point advantage. Not wanting a repeat of Wednesday night, Senior Sabrina Desper, Freshman Meagan Barron, and Junior Shamanda Washington all sank jump shots to hold onto the lead.  Shanice Miles then went 4-4 from the free throw line the final minute to seal the victory for Mary Baldwin.

Senior Sabrina Desper led MBC with 19 points.  She was followed closely by Shanice Miles who finished with 18 points while Shamanda Washington added 15.  Senior Crystal Lewis pulled down 10 rebounds for the Fighting Squirrels as freshman Meagan Barron had a season-high 9 assists.

Mary Baldwin will be looking for a non-conference win Monday night when they welcome Bridgewater College to Staunton.  Tip-off is at 7:00PM.
