Staunton, VA - Christopher Newport University grabbed 50 rebounds to Mary Baldwin's 31 and held the home team to only 3 offensive rebounds in a 73-37 win on Tuesday evening.  

Mary Baldwin struck first with a jumper by Senior Sabrina Desper giving the Fighting Squirrels their only lead of the game.  Mary Baldwin found themselves down by only 2 at the 14:00 minute mark.  Christopher Newport (14-3, 9-1 USA South) then began to build their lead outscoring Mary Baldwin 25-10 to take a 34-17 lead at the half.

In the first eight minutes of the second half, the Captains outscored MBC 20-5 and rolled to a 73-37 win.  Christopher Newport took advantage of the Fighting Squirrels 28 turnovers scoring 42 points off of those while only committing 10 turnovers of their own.  

Senior Sabrina Desper led Mary Baldwin with 13 points while pulling down 7 rebounds.  Shanice Miles followed with 9 points and Shamanda Washington finished with 8.  Tiffany Flesher pulled down 6 rebounds for MBC.

The Fighting Squirrels will be back in action Saturday at home at 2:00pm when they take on Greensboro College.
