33-32 in the second half but it wasn't enough to overcome their
first half deficit. The Fighting Squirrels started the day
slowly, shooting only 23.1% in the first half while committing 21
turnovers. Greensboro College used a full court press to
build a 31-14 lead in the first 20 minutes.
Mary Baldwin College, 4-11 (2-9 USAS), fought hard in the second
half. After Greensboro College, 13-3 (9-2 USAS), built up a
30 point lead in the first 10 minutes of the second half, the
Fighting Squirrels went on a 19-4 run to trail 40-55. The
Pride then held on in the final minutes to take the win.
Neither team was able to hold onto the ball as MBC finished with 38
turnovers while Greensboro gave up 35. Greensboro grabbed 52
rebounds while Mary Baldwin finished with 39. Greensboro
slightly outshot MBC making 36.7% of their shots while Baldwin made
33.3%.
Senior Sabrina Desper led Mary Baldwin with 18 points and 8
rebounds. She was followed closely by Senior Crystal Lewis
with 10 points and 8 rebounds.
Mary Baldwin will be on the road Tuesday when they travel to
Shenandoah University looking for their third conference win.
