Box Score STAUNTON, VA - William Peace University spoiled Mary Baldwin's
Senior Day by defeating the Fighting Squirrels 3-1 this afternoon
in soccer.
The Pacers struck quickly when Marianna Mitterling scored on a
close shot that went under the goalkeeper just 2:16 into the game.
Melissa Moran added a second goal in the first half scoring
off of an 18 yard shot.
Mary Baldwin outshot Peace in the first half 11 to 6 but failed
to find the back of the goal.
Sophomore Caitlin Novak changed that when she shot from 22 yards
out at the 65:47 minute mark to bring MBC to within one.
Sabre Jessup then added a third goal for William Peace with less
than 8 minutes left in the game to give the Pacers the 3-1
lead.
Kayla Childers was the goalkeeper for Mary Baldwin in the first
half while Erin Dullahan played that position in the second half.
Dullahan finished with 6 saves.
Seniors Jordan Jones, Michelle Jones, Donika Lee, and Samantha
Thomas were all honored before the game began.
Mary Baldwin College (4-8, 0-8) travel to Georgia this weekend
to play Piedmont College and LaGrange College. Both schools
are new members to the USA South Athletic Conference this year.
