Staunton, VA - Mary Baldwin College celebrated Senior Day this afternoon in its final home basketball game.  Senior basketball players Sabrina Desper and Crystal Lewis were honored along with Senior cheerleaders Stephanie Roush and Cearra Mechem. 

Averett University came today looking for a win having lost eight games in a row after defeating Mary Baldwin College in Danville 63-52 on January 21.  Both teams struggled to get their offense going in the first half.  Mary Baldwin was again plagued by turnovers finishing the first half with 19 points and 19 turnovers.  Averett faired better with only 14 turnovers and shot 34.5% from the floor.  They led 26-19 at the half.

The second half  proved to be a repeat of the first with the Fighting Squirrels never able to create the offense needed.  They finished the game shooting 21.2% from the floor and just 14.3% from behind the arc.

Senior Sabrina Desper finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds while Freshman Meagan Barron added 11 points. 

The Fighting Squirrels finished 8th in the USA South and will travel to Ferrum for the first round of the tournament on Tuesday.  Tipoff is 5:30PM.
