Mary Baldwin Volleyball Begins Conference Play

Staunton, VA - The Mary Baldwin College Volleyball team dropped their record to 0-13 with a pair of defeats this afternoon when they hosted Piedmont College and Meredith College in a USA South tri-match.  

In the first match, the Fighting Squirrels fell to Piedmont College 20-25, 20-25, and 11-25.  

LaToya Diggs led MBC in kills with 7.  She was followed closely by Kharla Bethea and Jonquil Brown who each had 5.  Sara Valdivieso added 10 assists while Paige Babb had 8.  Freshman Kayla Wheeler led the team in digs with 16.

In the second match against Meredith, the Fighting Squirrels lost 25-21, 25-10, and 25-19.  Kharla Bethea led the team in kills finishing with 7.  Paige Babb contributed 19 assists while Kayla Wheeler again led the team in digs with 13.

Mary Baldwin College 0-13 (0-2 USA South) will be on the road this week at Ferrum College on Wednesday and NC Wesleyan College on Friday where they play another tri-match with both NC Wesleyan and Greensboro College.
