STAUNTON, VA - Averett University jumped out to an early lead this evening on their way to a 75-34 win over Mary Baldwin College.

The Cougars scored quickly leading 9-0 with less than four minutes into the game. Averett controlled the boards giving the Fighting Squirrels just one shot on their offensive end.

Jazmine Brooks put the home team on the board when she made a layup at the 12:48 mark. The Cougars continued to roll outscoring MBC 25-10 in the remainder of the half.

Averett continued to dominate in the second half shooting almost 40% from the floor and 50% (7-14) from behind the arc.

Shanice Miles led MBC with 13 points and 8 rebounds.  Sheridan Lawrence and Lindsey Poirot also grabbed 8 rebounds each.

Mary Baldwin College (0-14, 0-7 USAS) will be on the road this weekend taking on new USA South members Piedmont College on Saturday and LaGrange College on Sunday.
