Box Score STAUNTON, VA - Nationally ranked Ferrum College defeated Mary
Baldwin College this evening 96-44 to improve their record to 16-2
(10-1 USA South).
Ferrum struck first when Katy Kipps scored with 18:47 on the
clock. The Fighting Squirrels then took the lead when Shanice
Miles sank a jumper from behind the arc with 17:32 remaining in the
first half. The Panthers then went on a 21- 0 run.
Shanice Miles scored another jumper at 11:41 and the home
team answered with a 9-4 run of their own. Then, with 8:40 to
go, the Panthers outscored MBC 19-5 to take a 46-17 lead at the
half.
The second half proved to be more of the same as Ferrum scored
both behind the arc (6-11) and in the lane shooting 56% in the
final twenty minutes to roll to the win.
Sophomore Shanice Miles led Mary Baldwin in scoring with 14
points while also pulling down 9 rebounds. She was followed
by Shamanda Washington who finished the night with a double double
scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Sophomore Lindsey
Shifflett added 10 points and 4 rebounds.
Mary Baldwin College 0-17 (0-10 USAS) will host Maryville
College Monday night at 6:00pm before hitting the road again next
weekend.
