Box Score STAUNTON, VA - Nationally ranked Christopher Newport University
improved their record to 12-0 this evening by defeating Mary
Baldwin College 60-24.
The Captains built a solid lead in the first half shooting
nearly 36% from the floor while the home team continued to struggle
offensively shooting just 2-20.
Both teams started the second half cold. In the first
eight minutes, CNU scored just three buckets while Mary Baldwin was
scoreless.
As the clock ticked down, the Fighting Squirrels played their
best scoring 14 points in the final twelve minutes.
Although improved, turnovers continued to plague MBC all evening
as the Captains scored 30 of their points off of the errors.
Mary Baldwin was led by Freshman Tejava Ivory who pulled down 13
rebounds while freshman Sheridan Lawrence led the team with 9
points.
After playing 4 games in the last 6 days, MBC will get a short
rest before hosting NC Wesleyan College Saturday at 2:00pm as they
continue to look for their first conference win.
