Box Score STAUNTON, VA - The Mary Baldwin soccer team concluded their
season this afternoon with a 7-0 loss to Greensboro College.
Greensboro's leading scorer Lauren Greeson scored the winning
goal just 10 minutes into the game from a cross by teammate Mary
Randolph. She added two more goals to her season total and
gave Greensboro a comfortable 3-0 lead at the half.
The second half was more of the same as the visitors outshot the
Fighting Squirrels 31-3. They also finished with 14 corner
kicks while MBC had just one.
Sara Brown guarded the goal in the first half and had 6 saves
while Erin Dullahan anchored the goal in the second half adding 11
saves to Mary Baldwin's total.
The win improves Greensboro's record to 7-4-1 in the USA South
and a berth in the tournament that begins next week.
Mary Baldwin finishes the season 5-12 (0-12 USAS).
The Fighting Squirrels bid farewell to 4 year starter Kallie
Johnson and 2 year starter Windsor Vaughn whom they will miss
greatly next season.
Coach Homes Tehrani summarized the season saying, "Our record is
not indicative of our season. The team has shown progress and
we are heading in the right direction. Now we can begin to
prepare ourselves for the next year. I'm very proud of this
group because they stuck together during tough times and showed
great resilience. I can't wait to get the next season
started."
