Box Score STAUNTON, VA - Eastern Mennonite University showed why they are
ranked 24th in the nation tonight as they defeated Mary Baldwin
College 90-50 in non-conference play.
Although the Fighting Squirrels worked to keep the game close
early on, the visitors slowly built their lead behind Keyla
Baltimore who shot a perfect 8-8 from the floor and 1-1 from the
line finishing with 17 points. Teammate Bianca Ygarza also
finished with 17 points and 9 rebounds.
Overall, Eastern Mennonite shot nearly 53% from the floor and
almost 47% from behind the arc.
Mary Baldwin College was lead by Shanice Miles who finished with
15 points and grabbed a game-high 12 boards. Imani Hill added
11 points and 4 rebounds while Lindsey Poirot scored 9 points and
grabbed 5 boards.
First year head coach Nikki Maples commented after the game, "We
played a great first 5 minutes of the game and battled back and
forth with a well disciplined team. I can see why they are
ranked in the top 25 in the nation. We will continue to work
on our discipline, execution, and conditioning to prepare ourselves
for our conference foes."
Mary Baldwin College 0-4 (0-0 USAS) will take a break for
Thanksgiving before traveling to Randolph next Thursday in another
non-conference matchup.
