Box Score

LYNCHBURG, VA - Randolph College improved their record to 6-2 this evening with a 73-37 win over Mary Baldwin College in a non-conference matchup.

The Fighting Squirrels kept the game close throughout the first half leading 17-16 with just 5:34 remaining in the half.  The home team then caught fire taking the lead on a jumper by Brie Holdren. The Wildcats went on to outscore Mary Baldwin 14-0 in the next three minutes and take a 17-32 lead into the locker room.

Randolph continued to build on their lead in the second half taking advantage of Mary Baldwin turnovers while controling the boards.

Lindsey Poirot lead the Fighting Squirrels with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 6 blocks.  Shanice Miles added 8 points and 7 rebounds.  Miles also contributed 3 assists and 4 steals.

Head Coach Nikki Maples commented on the game saying, "Tonight we had a great first 15 minutes when the team played hard and executed our offense.  We are still learning how to fight through and weather the storm.  Basketball is a game of runs and we have to learn how to handle opponents' runs and come back with our own."

Mary Baldwin College (0-5, 0-0 USAS) will take a break for exams and the holidays then return to play early in 2014.
