Box Score STAUNTON, VA - Mary Baldwin College hosted William Peace
University this afternoon in their final home game of the
season.
Shamanda Washington gave Mary Baldwin an early lead with less
one minute into the game. Meagan Barron added a three then Peace
went on a 10-0 run with just over eleven minutes to go in the half
giving them a 12-5 advantage.
Washington then sank three free throws and one jumper and
Lindsey Shifflett added another jumper to tie the game at 12-12.
The score then remained close with the teams exchanging the
lead throughout the remainder of the half. Jazmine Brooks
scored a layup as time ran out to bring Mary Baldwin to within one
going into the locker room.
In the second half, Peace jumped out early scoring six points
then Shanice Miles sank two shots from behind the arc and
Washington added a jumper to give the lead back to the home team
(34-33.) Over the next 4 minutes, MBC scored 12 points to give them
their largest lead of the game 46-38 with 11:46 remaining.
The Pacers then came roaring back with a 12-0 run of their
own.
The game was tied again 50-50 with 6:04 remaining on the clock.
The Fighting Squirrels then took the lead back when Shanice
Miles sank two free throws with 3:38 remaining on the clock.
Peace then controlled the final minutes going on a 14-2 run to
take a 68-59 win. William Peace improves to 7-16 (3-13 USA
South) while Mary Baldwin falls to 0-23 (0-16 USAS).
Senior Shamanda Washington finished the game with 23 points and
18 rebounds while Shanice Miles added 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Meagan Barron scored 7 points and pulled down 6 rebounds.
Mary Baldwin will finish their season on the road.
Wednesday they travel to Christopher Newport University then
conclude the season next Sunday at N.C. Wesleyan College.
