MBC Soccer Suffers First Loss of the Season

Box Score

STAUNTON, VA - The Mary Baldwin College soccer team suffered their first loss of the season and their first conference loss this afternoon to Meredith College 1-6.

The Fighting Squirrels were no match for the visitors who controlled the ball most of the game.  Meredith out shot Mary Baldwin 25-4 with 16 of those shots coming in the first half.

Erin Dullahan was busy in the net finishing the day with 11 saves while Meredith's three goalkeepers combined for just 2 saves.

Head Coach Homes Tehrani commented, "We played a very good team and we should learn from games like this.  We played much better in the second half despite playing one player short.  I am proud of them because we didn't give up.  On a positive note, we scored on one of the best teams in the conference."

Mary Baldwin College falls to 4-1 (0-1 USA South) while Meredith improves to 2-1-3 (1-0 USA South.)  The Fighting Squirrels will play Galluadet Tuesday afternoon at home then welcome USA South opponents LaGrange College and Huntingdon College next weekend.
