The two teams then battled much of the second half. Mayzie Lewis scored the winning goal for Mary Baldwin at the 75:51 minute mark. Then, the Fighting Squirrels defense held the Bison scoreless the remainder of the game giving Mary Baldwin the win.
Head Coach Homes Tehrani was happy with the win. He commented, "We played two different halves. In the first half, we didn't capitalize on our opportunities and that frustrated us and got us out of our game plan. Gallaudet used our frustration and scored two quick goals on us. In the second half, we settled in and played more relaxed, and started playing possession game that built up our confidence and took the momentum away from them. We had too many chances again but we couldn't finish. Finally, Mayzie received a through ball from the center mid and put the winning goal in. I'm so proud of them - the way we played in the second half that showed our potential. If we play with this type of mind set and intensity we could get more wins in the coming weeks."
With the 3-2 win, Mary Baldwin College improves their record to 5-1 while Galluadet falls to 0-6-1.
