Box Score STAUNTON, VA - The Mary Baldwin College volleyball team dropped its first conference match at home this evening to Greensboro College 0-3 (25-14, 25-15, 25-9).
The Fighting Squirrels led briefly early in the games then fell behind as the Pride was able to pull away with their consistent hitting. They were led by Liz Widenhouse with 17 kills of 25 total attacks. She was followed by Holly Anders with 9 kills.
Mary Baldwin College was led by Dominque Green with 5 kills along with Jessica Hickman and Latoya Diggs who had 4 each. Reilly Kelly led in assists with 12 while Sara Valdivieso added 16 digs for the Fighting Squirrels.
When asked about the game, Head Coach Paul Yee said, "It was a good night for us when we could pass, but we need to be more consistent to compete in the conference. Our middle attack improved a lot over the past week and we're working to get all the pieces more consistent."
Mary Baldwin College 0-7 (0-1 USAS) will be on the road this weekend in Raleigh, NC for a USA South quad match. They will play William Peace and N.C. Wesleyan College Saturday afternoon.
