Box Score STAUNTON, VA - A kill from freshman Farrah
Fullerton in Set 2 gave Mary Baldwin College volleyball their
first win this season. Roanoke College took the first set
25-14 but the Fighting Squirrels came back to tie the match in the
second set 25-23. The Maroons then came back to take sets 3
and 4 and the match 3-1.
Mary Baldwin College combined for 38 kills while Roanoke added
39 kills to their total. Each team had 8 serve aces and 8
receive errors. The difference in the game came down to
consistency. Roanoke had only 9 attack errors while the young
Mary Baldwin team committed 29 attack errors.
The visitors were led by Samantha Klostermann who had 17 kills
and a .455 hitting percentage against MBC.
Mary Baldwin was led by Katelyn Rice
who finished with 14 kills and 11 digs. Latoya Diggs
followed closely with 10 kills and an impressive 24 digs.
Libero Anahi
Trujillo-Camorlinga added 14 digs.
Head Coach Paul Yee commented, "I thought we played with a lot
of heart and worked hard the entire match. We held it
together in the second set and were able to win the set. We
have been working on toughness and I thought we displayed it more
against a very good Roanoke team. It was a fun match to be a
part of and our team is getting better."
Mary Baldwin College (0-11,0-3 USAS) travels to Averett
University (9-5,3-0 USAS) Thursday evening looking for their first
USA South Conference win.
