Hot Hand Gives EMU The Win

HARRISONBURG, VA - Eastern Mennonite University pulled away from Mary Baldwin this evening with a 37-8 run in the final 10 minutes of the first half to defeat the Fighting Squirrels 102-38 in women's basketball.

In that decisive 10 minutes, the Royals sank six shots from behind the arc and made 12 of 16 shots from the charity stripe in the first half.

In the game, the Royals shot just shy of 50% from the floor, 40.9% from behind the arc, and 82% from the free throw line. 

Shakeerah Sykes led Eastern Mennonite with 15 points.  She was followed closely by Marla Zumfelde with 14.

Mary Baldwin was led by Kaybria Johnson with a season-high 18 points.  Imani Hill added 8.

Hill also grabbed 9 boards for Mary Baldwin while Teanna Peavy added 7.

Mary Baldwin College 0-5 (0-1 USAS) will have a break for Thanksgiving before returning to action next week against Bridgewater College.
