Box Score BRIDGEWATER, VA - Bridgewater College used a full court press to
build a 38-15 halftime lead and defeat Mary Baldwin 78-37 on
Tuesday in women's basketball.
Mary Baldwin took a 7-6 lead at the 15:40 mark when Imani Hill
sank a free throw marking her fifth point on the night.
Bridgewater then used a full court press to create numerous Mary
Baldwin turnovers giving them a 20-7 lead.
Mary Baldwin struggled to create offense while Bridgewater
continued their run adding 12 points in the next five minutes.
The teams traded baskets for the final five minutes giving the
Eagles a 23 point lead into the locker room. Bridgewater shot
over 46% from the floor in the half while Mary Baldwin shot a
dismal 17.4%.
The second half proved to be more of the same as Bridgewater
controlled the inside game for the entire 40 minutes outrebounding
Mary Baldwin 55-33 and scoring 46 points in the paint.
Freshman Ayanni Seay had the best game of her short career
scoring 12 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Imani Hill and
Teanna Peavy scored 7 points each and pulled down 7 and 5 rebounds
respectively.
Head Coach Nikki Maples said, "Our intensity was on point
tonight. I am proud of the way our team continues to
fight. We have got to execute on a more consistent basis and
knock down our chip shots."
Mary Baldwin College (0-6, 0-1 USAS) will host Randolph College
in their next contest on January 4 at 2:00PM.
