Box Score STAUNTON, VA - Averett University improved their record to 4-3
in the USA South with a 87-37 win over Mary Baldwin College this
evening in women's basketball.
Averett was led by Samm Chandler who finished the night with a
triple double. The 5'10 freshman tallied 22 points, 10 steals
and 11 rebounds.
Mary Baldwin kept the game close trailing just four points with
15 minutes remaining before Averett began to build their
lead. With a 12 point lead and 10 minutes remaining, the
Cougars went on an 11-2 run to take a convincing 20 point advantage
with 7:36 remaining in the half. Mary Baldwin was plagued
with turnovers throughout the game giving Averett easy
buckets.
The visitors shot over 40% from the floor. They also
converted on Mary Baldwin mistakes scoring 42 points off of the
home team's turnovers.
Kaybria Johnson led Mary Baldwin with 11 points while Teanna
Peavy grabbed 14 rebounds.
Mary Baldwin College 0-11 (0-5 USAS) will play on the road this
weekend taking on USA South opponents Covenant College and
nationally ranked Maryville College.
