MBC Rallies in Second Half

Box Score

STAUNTON, VA - The Mary Baldwin College basketball team fell to William Peace University 48-68 this afternoon in a USA South matchup.

William Peace used a full court press to build a 15 point lead in the first 10 minutes of the game.  The two teams traded baskets throughout the remainder of the half.  The Pacers' defense focused on containing Mary Baldwin's Kaybria Johnson who had a career-high 28 points Wednesday night.

The Fighting Squirrels rallied in the second half with a more aggressive offense that tallied one of their highest points scored in a half this season.  The home team also finished with 10 assists to the Pacers' 9.  But, it wasn't enough to overcome the first half deficit built by the Pacers.

The balanced scoring was led by Kaybria Johnson who finished with 16 points.  She was followed by Imani Hill with 9 and Teanna Peavy with 8 points.  Peavy also again grabbed the most rebounds finishing with a game-high 12 boards.

Mary Baldwin out-rebounded the Pacers grabbing 43 rebounds to Peace's 32.

Mary Baldwin College 0-15 (0-9 USAS) will host Meredith Sunday afternoon in their second USA South Conference matchup this weekend.
