STAUNTON, VA - The Mary Baldwin College basketball team lost to Bridgewater College 54-100 this evening in their home opener.

The Eagles jumped out to an early 33-10 lead shooting 75% from behind the arc and over 60% from the floor in the first quarter.  

The visitors continued to build their lead throughout the remainder of the game.  Bridgewater dominated almost every category outrebounding Mary Baldwin 56 to 34.  The Eagles took advantage of Mary Baldwin turnovers scoring 31 points off of the errors while also converting in the lane scoring 42 points in the paint.

Bridgewater's balanced scoring attack was led by Jessica Lam who finished with 25 points while Cassidy Burkholder grabbed a game-high 9 rebounds.

Mary Baldwin was led by Kaybria Johnson who finished with 17 points.  Rakeema Willis and Precious Parker followed with 9 and 8 points respectively.

Teanna Peavy tallied 8 rebounds while Willis and Shantelle Jennings added 3 steals each.

Mary Baldwin College 0-2 (0-0 USAS) continue play on Sunday when they host Weslyean College.  Tip off is at noon.
