Mary Baldwin Basketball Celebrates Senior Day

STAUNTON, VA - The Mary Baldwin College basketball team concluded the season with a loss to Methodist University 35-76. 

Before the game, the Fighting Squirrels celebrated Senior Day honoring Tejava Ivory and manager Damba Koroma. 

Methodist University jumped out to an early 8-0 lead.  Mary Baldwin answered with an 8-6 run to trail 8-14.  Mary Baldwin's offense then went cold scoring just two more buckets in the half as the Monarchs outscored Mary Baldwin 19-5 to finish the half.

Mary Baldwin continued to struggle offensively in the second half and Methodist dominated the final 20 minutes.  The Monarchs finish the season 9-10 in the USA South which places them 4th in the north division.

Methodist took advantage of Mary Baldwin turnovers scoring 23 points off of the 29 turnovers.  Methodist also dominated in the lane scoring 36 points in the paint.  The visitors shot just shy of 40% from the floor while Mary Baldwin shot 23.3%.

Sydney Bryan led Methodist's balance scoring attack with 12 points.  Jasmine Canady and Jalisia Campbell each added 11 points while Alexis Wallace finished with 10.  Wallace also grabbed 12 rebounds.

Kaybria Johnson led Mary Baldwin with 12 points.  Tejava Ivory and Teanna Peavy each added 8 points.  Peavy also tallied 10 rebounds.
