Box Score STAUNTON, VA - The Mary Baldwin College soccer team lost to Wilson College 1-4 this afternoon in the first game of the season.
The Phoenix struck first less than a minute into the game when Erin Stephan dribbled in on the right side and scored giving the visitors the lead.
Jannelly Ramos tied the game for the Fighting Squirrels off of a pass by Brenda Santamaria six minutes later. The two teams battled for the remainder of the half.
The second half was all Wilson, as the visitors out shot Mary Baldwin 15-5 adding three goals to their total. Erin Stephan tallied all four goals for the Phoenix.
Both teams started rookie goal keepers. Wilson's Brianna Martin finished the day with 8 saves while Brittany Tenn grabbed 7 saves for the home team.
Mary Baldwin College 0-1 continues play at home on Saturday. The Fighting Squirrels take on Valley Forge at 2:00pm.
