Box Score HARRISONBURG, VA - The Mary Baldwin College volleyball team fell to Eastern Mennonite University this evening in their first match of the season. The Royals won 3-1 (25-13, 23-25, 25-21, 25-22).
After losing the first set, Mary Baldwin came back to take a close second set 25-23. The home team then edged the Fighting Squirrels in the final two sets to take the match.
Mary Baldwin College was led by Katelyn Rice who finised with 13 kills. She was followed by Jessica Hickman who added 7. Reilly Kelly tallied 27 assists while the defense was led by Jemicka Wilborne who finished the night with 10 digs. Setter Reilly Kelly finished close behind with 9 digs.
Eastern Mennonite University used a balance scoring attack. Becca Hardy led the Royals with 7 kills. She was followed closely by Skyler Johnson who added 6 kills while three of their teammates added 5 kills each.
Defensively, Katie Miller led the home team with 15 digs.
Mary Baldwin College 0-1 play their home opener tomorrow evening against Lynchburg College before returning to Eastern Mennonite this weekend for the invitational tournament.
