Box Score 2 ROCKY MOUNT, NC - The Mary Baldwin College volleyball team traveled to NC Wesleyan College today for a USA South Quad Match.
The Fighting Squirrels started the day with a close win in the first set against the Bishops of NC Wesleyan College. Mary Baldwin won 28-26 behind 18 total kills. The home team then came back to take the final three sets 25-20, 25-16, 25-9. The Bishops slowed Mary Baldwin's offense with an impressive 15 total blocks. The Bishops also took advantage of Mary Baldwin's 13 serve errors and 12 receive errors.
Tori Stewart led NC Wesleyan College with 10 kills while Kayla White added 20 assists and 4 serve aces. Samantha Morton added 7 block assists.
Mary Baldwin's balanced scoring attack was led by Katelyn Rice who tallied 12 kills. She was followed closely by Farrah Fullerton who added 10 and Jacklyn Lamoy with 7. Reilly Kelly led the team with 39 assists while Xenna Belfield fishined with 20 digs.
William Peace defeated Mary Baldwin in straight sets in their second match of the day 25-18, 25-14, 25-7.
The Fighting Squirrels were again led by Katelyn Rice who finished with 9 kills. Farrah Fullerton and Jessica Hickman added 5 each. Reilly Kelly tallied 21 assists and 8 digs.
Mary Baldwin College 2-16 (0-6 USAS) will look for their first conference win on Thursday when they host Ferrum College. The match begins at 7:00 PM.
