Brittany Tenn Breaks Single Season Record for Saves

Box Score

STAUNTON, VA - Mary Baldwin's sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Tenn set a new record for most saves in a season this afternoon against N.C. Wesleyan College while she also set a new personal best of 23 saves in a single game.

Tenn has tallied 214 saves this season which bests Erica Gaughan's single season record of 209 in 2009.  Tenn currently ranks 10th in the country in saves per game and 4th in total saves.

After the game, Head Coach Kyle Congleton said, "Brittany has grown a lot over the season.  Early on we knew she'd face a lot of shots and the types of shots were going to be important.  So, we began focusing on the proper technique to make the 1v1 and high ball saves.  She embraced the rigors of that training and we've seen her ability and confidence in those situations soar.  Her teammates trush and respect the role she's played this year."

The sophomore goalkeeper's 23 saves this afternoon ranks second in the most saves in a game for Mary Baldwin.  Erica Gaughan holds the top spot with 28 saves against Meredith College on October 9, 2011.

Mary Baldwin fell to the Battling Bishops 0-6 in their final home game of the season.

Mary Baldwin University, 0-16 (0-11 USAS), finish the season on the road next weekend against Averett University and Meredith College.
