Soccer Battles Weather and Opponents This Weekend

RALEIGH, NC - The Mary Baldwin University soccer team traveled to North Carolina over the weekend to take on USA South opponents Greensboro College and William Peace University.

On Saturday, the Fighting Squirrels battled the rain along with the Pride from Greensboro.  The home team scored their first goal 13 minutes into the game.  Devin D'Agostin and Anna Rae Porcelli both finished the day with a hat trick each leading their team to a 13-0 win.  The game was halted just after the 70 minute mark due to weather.

Against William Peace, Caylin Yarbrough put the Pacers on the board 13 minutes into the game.  Yarbrough and Alyssa Gasperini added another goal each before the half to give Peace a 3-0 lead after the first 45 minutes.  The home team added a final goal in the second half to take the 4-0 win.

Brittany Tenn, Mary Baldwin's goalkeeper, tallied 10 saves on Saturday and a new season-high 21 saves on Sunday.

Mary Baldwin University, 0-14 (0-9 USAS), continues play at home on Wednesday.  The Fighting Squirrels host Ferrum at 4pm.
