STAUNTON, VA - Southern Virginia University defeated Mary Baldwin University this afternoon 87-55 in a non-conference matchup.

The Knights jumped out to a 31-9 lead in the first quarter.  SVU shot 60% from the floor in the first 10 minutes and forced 10 Mary Baldwin turnovers.

Mary Baldwin bounced back in the second quarter winning the period 23-12 with a balanced scoring attack.

Both teams struggled in the third period with 20 turnovers between them. Southern Virginia held a 63-47 lead going into the final period.

Mary Baldwin went cold in the final quarter and the Knights earned the 87-55 win.

Southern Virginia was led by Jamilla Gambee with 23 points.  Katee Hubert earned a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Mary Baldwin was led by Rakeema Willis who finished with 16 points going 4 for 9 from behind the arc.  Nicole Blackburn also earned a double-double scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
