Box Score STAUNTON, VA - The Mary Baldwin University basketball team opened their USA South Conference play this weekend at home.
After falling to Greensboro College on Saturday 28-72, the Fighting Squirrels hosted William Peace University this afternoon.
The Pacers jumped out to a 21-12 lead after the first quarter on their way to a 85-64 win.
Mary Baldwin answered in the second quarter slowing the Pride's offense and trailing by just eight points at the half.
Mary Baldwin struggled in the third quarter as Peace took control of the game capitalizing on Mary Baldwin's 11 turnovers in the period. The Fighting Squirrels answered in the final period outscoring Peace 28-24 but it was too little too late as the visitors inproved their record to 9-3 (2-1 USAS).
The Pacers were led by Nadine Ealey who tallied 17 points. Makayla Ray grabbed 10 boards.
Mary Baldwin was led by Nicole Blackburn who finished with a season-high 17 points and 10 rebounds. Anna Ramirez added 12 points while Khai Davidson tallied 11 boards.
Mary Baldwin University, 2-11 (0-2 USAS) continue play Wednesday when they travel to Ferrum College.
