Box Score STAUNTON, VA - The Mary Baldwin University women's basketball team continued conference play this afternoon when they hosted Averett University. The Cougars improved their record to 11-6 with a 90-50 win over the Fighting Squirrels.
Averett battled to a 19-13 lead after the first quarter then used a 32-7 run in the second period to take a commanding lead.
Mary Baldwin battled back in the second half but it wasn't enough to overcome the first half deficit.
Averett's balanced scoring attack was led by Frida Lundquist who tallied 11 points. She was followed closely by Alixis Roccia, Brooke Carthon, and Stacey Marriott who added 10 each. Jonna Koski grabbed 9 rebounds.
Nicole Blackburn and Khai Davidson tallied 14 points each for Mary Baldwin while Anna Ramirez added 10. Blackburn finished the night with a double-double grabbing 13 rebounds for the home team.
Mary Baldwin University, 2-13 (0-4 USAS), hosts Meredith College Sunday afternoon at 2 pm.
