Meredith Uses Balanced Scoring Attack to Defeat Mary Baldwin

STAUNTON, VA - Meredith College used a balanced scoring attack to defeat Mary Baldwin University 62-49 this afternoon in USA South Conference play.

Mary Baldwin jumped out to a 15-12 lead after the first quarter shooting 40% from the floor and 60% from behind the arc but the Fighting Squirrels went cold in the 2nd and 3rd quarters scoring just 14 points in the next 20 minutes.

Meredith dominated the paint outrebounding Mary Baldwin 43-28 and doubling their points in the lane. 

Meredith was led by Amy Rhoney who tallied a double double scoring 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.  Chandler Hines followed closely with 12 points and Kristie King with 10 points.

Kearsten Brazeal led Mary Baldwin with 13 points going 3 for 6 from behind the arc.  Rakeema Willis added 9 points.  Nicole Blackburn grabbed 8 rebounds for the Fighting Squirrels.

Mary Baldiwn University, 2-14 (0-5 USAS), continue play on Wednesday when they travel to Methodist University.
