Basketball Drops Two on the Road

RALIEGH, NC - After losing to Greensboro College 25-74 on Saturday, the Mary Baldwin University women's basketball team continued their road trip in Raleigh, NC taking on the Pacers of William Peace University this afternoon in a USA South matchup.

The Pacers jumped out to a 15-9 lead after the first quarter behind Susannah Sykes who scored 8 points in the first 10 minutes.  Tyler Mercer added 6 points in the second period to lead the home team to a 31-15 advantage at the half. 

Mary Baldwin shot an impressive 50% from behind the arc but couldn't stop the Pacers from building on their lead in the second half taking a 74-41 win.

William Peace was led by Jayde Grant who finished with a game-high 20 points.  Sykes added 13 points. 

Mary Baldwin's balanced scoring attack was led by Khai Davidson and Aayana Nedd who finished with 12 points each.  Nicole Blackburn led the rebounding effort with a game-high 13 rebounds.  Davidson added 8.

With the win, William Peace improves to 7-2 in the USA South and holds the second place spot in the East Division.

Mary Baldwin College, 2-17, falls to 0-8 in conference play.
