Basketball Battles on the Road

GREENSBORO, NC -The Mary Baldwin University basketball team continued conference play on the road over the weekend.  On Saturday, the Fighting Squirrels took on the Spirits of Salem College falling 45-86. 

Mary Baldwin trailed by only five points at the end of the first quarter and was led by Rakeema Willis who tallied 5 points in the period. 

The visitors struggled offensively in the second period and Salem took a 37-23 lead at the half.

Mary Baldwin answered in the 3rd period shooting just shy of 43% from the field but simply couldn't overcome the deficit.

Nyla Issac tallied 10 points Mary Baldwin while Kemper Snyder followed closely with 9.  Cauy Duboise grabbed 11 rebounds and finished with 7 points.

On Sunday, Mary Baldwin traveled to Greensboro College.  The Pride currently holds the top spot in the USA South East Division. 

Greensboro used a full court press to build a 22-12 lead in the first half and took the win 82-42.

Cauy Duboise led the team with 11 points and 8 rebounds.  Jalyssa Melendez added a season high 9 points and 6 rebounds.

Mary Baldwin University, 1-18 (0-10 USAS), battle Averett University next week.
