STAUNTON, VA - The Mary Baldwin University women's basketball team opened the new year at home hosting USA South opponents William Peace University and Meredith College.

On Saturday, Mary Baldwin fell to William Peace University 55-71.

The game remained close throughout the first three periods with William Peace taking a slight 48-46 lead into the final 10 minutes of play.  Mikayla Ray and Dejah Cheatham then combined for 18 of the Pacer's 23 points in the 4th quarter to take the win and improve their record to 2-1 in the conference.

Mary Baldwin's balanced scoring attack was led by Kemper Snyder who tallied her first career double-double scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.  Aayana Nedd and Rakeema Willis followed closely with 14 points each.  Teanna Peavy and Cauy Duboise led the team in rebounds with 12 each.

On Sunday, Meredith College jumped out to an early 24-10 lead in the first ten minutes of play shooting 35% from the floor while tallying 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. 

Mary Baldwin answered in the second period when Cheyanne Micheal stepped in and shot 5-6 from behind the arc to spark the home team.  The Fighting Squirrels then outscored Meredith in the final 20 minutes of play but simply couldn't overcome the first quarter deficit and fell to the visitors 68-76.  

Kristie King led Meredith with 25 points and 10 rebounds.

Mary Baldwin was led by Cheyanne Micheal who finished the day with 21 points.  Cauy Duboise added a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards while Aayana Nedd added 12 points.

Mary Baldwin University, 1-11 (0-4 USAS), continues play at home next weekend hosting conference opponents Greensboro College and Salem College.
