Fighting Squirrels Blanked by Methodist

STAUNTON, Va. -- The Mary Baldwin University women's soccer team finished its weekend with a 7-0 loss against Methodist at SMA Worth Field on Sunday afternoon.

With the result, the Fighting Squirrels are 3-8 overall behind an 0-3 mark in league play, while the Monarchs improve to 5-4-1 with a 2-1-1 record in conference action.

MU scored early in the contest as Bella Nunu played a quick pass to Miranda Gay who sent a ball past the MBU defense to Laura Harris who scored at the 3:08 mark. Harris scored again in the 11th minute and Haley Bowles added another in the 23rd minute. The Monarchs scored one more to take a 4-0 lead at the half.

In the second half, the Monarchs scored three times to move the score to 7-0 for the final.

Anyka Wilkin stopped 11 shots while Maggie Hunt made two saves in the win.

The Fighting Squirrels return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 9, as they travel to Trinity for a 4:30 pm start.
