Box Score BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Mary Baldwin volleyball team dropped its conference match Tuesday night at Southern Virginia in three sets, falling 25-20, 25-12, 25-8.
The home team jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead in the first set, but the Squirrels battled back and sonsecutive kills by Hannah Myers, Rachel Christian and Alexis Edmonds pulled MBU to within two points, 11-9.
SVU surged ahead 19-11, but the Squirrels continued to fight and a kill by Christian closed the margin to 24-20. SVU's Courtney Pinkston then put down a kill to end the first set 25-20.
The Knights, 14-3 overall and 6-1 in conference play, controlled action in the next two sets to close out the match in three.
Sydney Clarke paced MBU with 10 kills and Soleil Rios Rolon led the team with 20 digs.
Mary Baldwin, now 4-14 overall and 0-7 in the conference, will be back on the court Saturday when the Squirrels travel to Salem College for matches against Salem and Pfeiffer.
