Box Score Quierra Hawkins scored two goals in the second half Saturday to erase a 2-1 deficit and lift Mary Baldwin to a 3-2 win over N.C. Wesleyan in a conference matchup.
With the victory, MBU improves to 7-4-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the USA South Athletic Conference. The three USA South wins is a new program record for most conference wins in a season.
Annie Ammons put the Squirrels on the board in the 29th minute, making the score 1-0. The goal was the eighth this season for the MBU forward.
The Battling Bishops scored two goals in the final 10 minutes of the opening half to take a 2-1 halftime lead.
Quierra Hawkins tied the score at 2-2 with a goal off an assist from Cyanne Harkins in the 54th minute. Quierra Hawkins then added the game-winner in the 63rd minute with Ammons providing the assist.
Mary Baldwin held a 14-8 edge in total shots and a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Nyasia Hawkins played the second half in goal for the Squirrels and recorded one save while facing four total shots.
Mary Baldwin is back in action Tuesday when the team travels to play Salem College.
