Early Goals Too Much For MBU To Overcome

Bob Jones University scored two goals in the first 14 minutes Wednesday afternoon and the Bruins went on to defeat Mary Baldwin, 3-1, in non-conference action played on SMA Worth Field.

After the Bruins took the early lead, MBU got on the board in the 36th minute when Kate Thoele took a shot from 30 yards out and put the ball into the upper right corner to pull the Fighting Squirrels to within 2-1.

The Bruins held the one goal lead at the break and the score remained 2-1 until the 59th minute when a goal by Mia Marks put the visitors ahead 3-1.

MBU held a slim 15-14 edge in total shots. The Squirrels also led in corner kicks by a 10-4 margin.

MAry Baldwin, now 3-3, returns to action Saturday when the Squirrels travel to Marymount.
