Box Score 2 BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Mary Baldwin volleyball team dropped a pair of conference contests during a quad-match Saturday at Southern Virginia.
The Fighting Squirrels fell in three sets to Meredith 26-24, 36-15, 26-13. MBU lost to William Peace in three sets 25-11, 25-11, 25-14.
Mary Baldwin rallied from a 23-18 deficit in the first set against Meredith to serve for the set as the Fighting Squirrels scored six straight points to take the lead. Two kills by Sydney Clarke and two service aces by Emily Link helped MBU pull even at 23-23. An attack error moved the Squirrels to set point, 24-23, but Meredith tallied the next three points to win the opening set.
Clarke with 11 kills and Rachel Christian with nine led MBU in the loss to Meredith. Kate Rudolph tallied 11 assists and Soleil Rios Rolon paced the team with nine digs.
In the loss to William Peace, Alexis Edmonds and Clarke each finished with four kills. Rudolph led the team with six assists and Rolon added 13 digs.
Mary Baldwin, now 4-10 overall and 0-3 in USA South conference matches, returns to action Tuesday evening when the Squirrels host Greensboro in conference action.
