FERRUM, Va. - Mary Baldwin junior Annie Ammons scored two goals Friday evening, including the game-winner in the first minute of overtime, to lift the Fighting Squirrels to a 2-1 victory over Ferrum in the team's first game of the season.

Ferrum took the lead with a goal early in the second half, but Ammons tied the score when she found the back of the net from 30 yards out.

Just 13 seconds into the overtime period, Ammons brole down the middle and put her shot into the upper left part of the goal for the game-winner.

Ferrum held a 14-9 edge in total shots and a slim 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

MBU keeper Anyka Wilkin registered seven saves in the Squirrels' victory.

Mary Baldwin returns to action Sunday afternoon for its home-opener against Johnson & Wales
