Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Mary Baldwin Women's Soccer Dominates Salem In 3-0 Victory

Mary Baldwin senior Shea Rider scored what proved to be the game-winning goal, her team-leading fourth goal of the season, and junior Sara Gruntowicz added her third tally of 2023, in Monday's 3-0 USA South Athletic Conference women's soccer win in Winston-Salem, N.C.

MBU, which improved to 2-3-1 in conference play (3-8-2 overall), fired 45 attempts at the Salem goal (16 on target) to control the tempo of the game.

Rider found the back of the net in the 30th minute for the only score of the opening half.  In the last 15 minutes, freshman Najila Castillo-Wright tallied her first career goal and Gruntowicz chipped in another to provide the final margin of victory.

Salem managed just seven attempts (one on goal) against the MBU defense, forcing GK Maddy Vinson to record one save in the contest.

The Fighting Squirrels return to action Wednesday at SMA Worth Field with a non-conference clash against Marymount (Va.) University, beginning at 4 p.m.
