Less than 24 hours after registering the team's first win in 11 months, the Mary Baldwin women's basketball team (1-2) struggled in all areas of the game on the way to dropping a 73-38 decision to non-conference foe Hollins (1-1) on Alumnae Day at the PAC.
On Saturday night, Fighting Squirrels rallied in the fourth quarter for a victory at Hood. Sunday, the Fighting Squirrels could not find the spark to light the rally. MBU shot just 23.6% from the field (13-for-55), including just a trio of three-point goals. Hollins, which shot 47.7% from the field (31-for-65), including eight long-range shots, also held a 50-33 rebounding advantage, blocked four shots, had 14 steals and forced 23 MBU turnovers.
Senior
A'Cetta Farrait again led the Fighting Squirrels with 11 points and seven rebounds. Junior
Imari Knight scored eight points while senior
Codie Heilig had six boards.
Hollins was led by a double-double from Noelani Carter with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Ariana Gutierrez had 11 points, including two three-point goals.
MBU will play another set of back-to-back games next weekend against USA South Conference opponents William Peace (Friday, 6 p.m.) and Methodist (Saturday, 3 p.m.).
